What is Frugal Nosh?
I first heard the word nosh from my father, previously a New York native and always the most influential foodie in my life. He used to describe it like “noshing on a bagel and schmear while walking around New York."
The word itself is from the Yiddish word nashn, which means “to nibble on.” Combining this with the ideals of frugal living – the word frugal actually comes from the Latin words frugalis and frui that mean “virtuous” and “to enjoy” – is exactly what I have set out to do with this blog:
finding delicious things to nibble on that won’t empty your already empty wallet.

About the Connoisseur
I grew up in the northern part of California's Central Valley with exceptional Mexican food and the freshest of fresh produce. I am currently living amidst LA’s jumble of Middle Eastern, Indian, Thai, Mexican, Italian, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese cultures (to name a few).
When I first arrived, LA's deplorable public transportation and steep prices aimed to stop me in my car-less, penniless dreams of pursuing delicious food.
But I wanted to try something new. I wanted to be a diligent college student and delve into the cultural diversity of the city.
So I found a way around the obstacles. With the help of generous, adventurous friends who appreciate food as much as I do, I have set out to find some culinary gems in this metropolitan vastness, without breaking the bank.
And here I am.
